Game Goal

Threesquare is a competitive sliding block numbers puzzle game. Combine numbers and see how high you can score!

The goal of the game is simple: score more points than your opponent to win!

Basic Rules:

  • Swipe the board to slide and combine numbered tiles.

  • Try to build the highest numbers possible.

  • New tiles appear after every move.

  • The match ends when you run out of space or time.

  • Each match has a 5 minute time limit.

Fairness

Each match of Threesquare is played against another player to see who can get the highest score.

  • You are matched against players of similar skill, but you may not be playing at the same time.

  • Initial placement of tiles is random but is the same for both players.

  • Both players get the same tiles in the same order.

How To Play

Moving Tiles:

  • Swipe the board to slide all tiles in that direction.

  • Tiles only slide one space at a time.

  • Tiles will only move into empty spaces or merge with tiles of the same value.

Merging Tiles:

  • Tiles with the same value combine to make higher tiles.

  • The greater tile will be the sum of the combined tiles.

  • 1s can only combine with 2s and vice versa.

New Tiles:

  • After every move a new tile is added.

  • The next tile to be added is shown at the bottom

  • New tiles only appear in rows or columns that moved last turn.

  • The match ends if there is no room for a new tile.

Scoring

Threesquare scores vary depending on board layout and the draw. In general a great score is between 2,500 and 3,000. If you score over 3,000, consider yourself a tile matching master.

Game Score:

  • Determined by matching tiles and getting higher tiles on the board

  • When merging tiles you are award points equal to 2x the face value of the new tile.

    • If you match a 2 and a 1 for a 3, you are awarded +6 points.

    • If you match a 12 and a 12 for a 24, you are awarded +48 points.

  • +10 points each time you reach a new highest tile.

Strategy

  • Analyze the board when the game starts, the clock doesn’t start until you make your move.

  • Keep your greatest tile in a corner to prevent cluttering the board and getting blocked.

  • Keep note of the tiles that will appear next.

  • Always prioritize making easy matches to prevent overflow.

  • Play to get the highest tile possible, not the most matches.
