Lead Game Data Analyst

About

Tether Games is the world's #1 developer of skill-based mobile games. We are a small team of passionate game makers that have shipped 27 mobile games to 25+ million players who've played billions of tournaments. Now, we’re looking for the right person to join Tether’s high-functioning and shockingly efficient studio to help take us to the next level.

What we're looking for

Tether is looking for a lead game data analyst to join our product team and run the data science department.

Ultimately, you will be responsible for providing context for the numbers. With an equal respect for historical data, current KPIs, and future projections, your insights will bolster the business while also improving the user experience for our players.

A data analyst at Tether Games also has deep experience with mobile gaming mechanics, metagame structures, and monetization systems. You understand how the industry has evolved and can predict where it’s going next, with respect to demographics, revenue streams, and marketing.

You have to be nimble enough to take on new projects, prioritize ‘minimum effort/maximum results’ tasks, and solve problems in real-time with your own judgment. You’re a servant leader and work well under pressure with limited instruction, all while managing upward. Tether employees have a passion for video games, love to work hard, strive for excellence, and perform at the highest level.

Some of what you'll do

  • Champion full circle data analysis; from hypotheses and queries, to analysis and recommendations, to implementation and testing, to reporting and optimizing.

  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve individual game and overall catalog performance.

  • Disseminate key insights to all members of the team in a way that is both digestible and engaging.

  • Build and maintain streamlined dashboards that bubble up the most relevant trends to stakeholders.

  • Own daily and quarterly revenue reports, keeping a close eye on trends and anomalies.

  • Compile health check reports for newly released games and live game updates.

  • Track the emergence of live errors and coordinate with team members to resolve in a timely manner.

  • Interface and collaborate with external partners on various business initiatives.

  • Actively seek out ways to optimize your own workflow and the business at large.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a data analyst in the games industry or a comparable sector.

  • A background in statistics, economics, or other quantitative fields.

  • Data-driven approach to results with creative tendencies to problem solving.

  • Experience and agility with various analytics platforms and big data environments.

  • A balanced perspective of confidence:skepticism to data reports.

  • Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills across various interface mediums.

  • Commitment to providing context, clarity, and consistency across all deliverables.

  • A careful steward of the details.

  • A resourceful and proactive attitude to task and priority identification.

  • The ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

  • A willingness to learn and try new things, even outside of your role, without fear of failure.

  • Executional confidence and ownership when tackling new projects with little or no guidance.

  • A mindset geared towards testing, rapid iteration, and always looking forward.

  • A desire to work in a team-based, entrepreneurial company.

  • Capable of working professionally and effectively in a fully-remote environment.
