21 Blitz Game Rules

Game Goal

21 Blitz is like Blackjack meets Solitaire.

The goal of the game is simple: score more points than your opponent to win!

Basic Rules:

  • Tap one of the four columns to add the drawn card to that column.

  • Make stacks that add up to 21 to clear that column.

  • Going over 21 gives you a bust. Three busts ends the game.

  • The match ends when you’ve played all available cards.

  • Each match uses a single 52 card deck.

  • Each match has a 3 minute time limit.

Fairness

Each match of 21 Blitz is played against another player to see who can get the highest score.

  • You are matched against players of similar skill, but you may not be playing at the same time.

  • Both players play the same shuffle. All cards are in the same order.

  • Clear more stacks faster than your opponent to win!

How To Play

Making Stacks:

  • Play cards to one of the four columns to make stacks that add up to 21.

  • A, K, Q, and J add 10, and Aces add 1 or 11.

  • 5 card stacks at or under 21 are cleared immediately and award a bonus.

  • Black Jacks are wild and clear any stack.

Undo:

  • If you make a mistake, use the Undo button to go back one move.

  • Unlimited uses, but can only undo the most recent action.

  • Allows peeking ahead at the next card. Use this to your advantage!

Scoring

Scores in 21 Blitz vary depending on the shuffle of the cards, but generally anything above 8,000 points is a great score. If you can score above 11,000 points, you’re a Streak Master!

Points come from two main sources: Base Score and Time Bonus.

Base Score:

  • Awarded for making stacks, streaks, and other bonuses.

  • 21 = +400 points for each stack of 21.

  • Wild = +200 points for each stack cleared with a Wild.

  • 5 Cards = +600 points for each stack of 5 cards at or under 21.

  • Stacks can earn points from any combination of the above (e.g. 21, Wild, and 5 Cards, if you're lucky).

Streaks:

  • Earn a streak bonus for clearing stacks on back-to-back turns.

  • A 6 stack streak is the maximum possible streak but requires planning and a bit of luck!

    • 2nd stack = +250 points

    • 3rd stack = +500 points

    • 4th stack = +750 points

    • 5th stack = +1000 points

    • 6th stack = +1250 points

Bonuses:

  • No Bust Bonus = +100 points for not getting any busts.

  • Perfect Game Bonus = +1000 points for clearing all cards from the board.

Time Bonus:

  • Earn +10 points per second for each second remaining after playing all cards or busting out.

  • If you end the game early, the time bonus is scaled down based on the % of cards remaining in the deck.

Strategy

Obviously getting lots of stacks of 21s is a great strategy but streaks are also an important part of your score. The winner is often determined by who got the most streaks.

General:

  • Creating stacks of 10s or 11s is the easiest way to get 21s.

  • Memorize the pairs of cards you can stack to make 11s: 9s and 2s, 8s and 3s, etc.

  • Don’t put too many of the same numbers in multiple columns, except 10s and 11s.

  • Don’t make too many high total stacks or you’ll risk busting out.

  • Try to make mental notes of the cards you’ve already played, so you know what’s left.

  • Use black Jacks to clear out high total stacks to prevent a bust.

  • Use Undo to peek ahead at the next card.

Streaks:

  • Setup multiple stacks of 11s to make for easy streaks since they have the most outs.

  • Stack four low cards together so you can clear it with a fifth card and keep your streak alive.

  • The longest possible streak is 6 stacks in a row, since there are four stacks and two blackjacks.

Finally, practice makes perfect! 21 Blitz is a game of skill; the better you are, the more you win.
