UI Artist
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Department: Art
Reports to: Art Director
About the Role
We’re looking for a UI Artist to join our art team and help design and build user interfaces across Tether’s catalog of skill-based, competitive mobile games.
In this role, you’ll create clear, engaging in-game UI experiences—including dialogs, prompts, reward surfaces, and promotional experiences that support player engagement and monetization across multiple titles. You’ll work closely alongside the Art Director to design, iterate, and implement UI that is visually polished, intuitive to use, and effective in the hands of players.
As our catalog continues to grow and evolve, your work will help establish scalable UI patterns and visual consistency across a wide range of games.
Responsibilities
-
Design and produce in-game UI used across multiple skill-based mobile games
-
Create clear, compelling layouts, visual hierarchies, and title treatments optimized for mobile devices
-
Collaborate closely with the Art Director throughout concepting, iteration, and execution
-
Apply UX principles to ensure clarity, usability, and player comprehension
-
Design with implementation in mind, understanding how UI elements are built and animated in-app
-
Prepare and integrate assets for use in Unity
-
Iterate on designs based on feedback, testing, and evolving product needs
-
Help establish visual consistency and reusable UI patterns across games
Required Skills & Experience
-
1–4+ years of experience in UI, graphic, or game art (strong junior candidates encouraged)
-
Solid understanding of mobile UI and UX principles, including hierarchy, readability, spacing, and interaction
-
Experience designing dialogs, pop-ups, or other in-game UI surfaces for mobile apps or games
-
Strong visual design fundamentals: typography, composition, color, and contrast
-
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar
-
Experience working with GitHub or other version control systems
-
Ability to collaborate closely, take feedback, and iterate quickly in a production environment
Unity & Implementation
-
Familiarity with Unity UI is a strong plus
-
Candidates should either:
-
Have experience implementing UI in Unity, or
-
Be eager to learn Unity and take on more integration responsibility over time
-
-
You’ll work directly with the Art Director to grow in this area as needed
Animation (Strong Plus)
-
Understanding of UI animation and motion principles (timing, easing, hierarchy)
-
Ability to design UI with motion in mind, even if animation is implemented by others
-
Experience with tools like Unity UI animation, Unity Particles, After Effects, or similar is a plus
What We’re Looking For
-
A junior-to-mid level artist eager to grow ownership and responsibility
-
Someone comfortable working across a variety of games and UI surfaces
-
A designer who balances visual appeal, usability, and implementation realities
-
Strong collaborator with curiosity about how design comes to life in-engine
Why Join Us
-
Opportunity to work on a diverse catalog of competitive games
-
High-impact UI work seen across multiple titles
-
Close collaboration with art and UX leadership
-
Room to expand skills across UI, UX, animation, and Unity integration
Hiring Process
Our interview process includes portfolio review, conversations with the art team as well as leadership, and a short design exercise intended to reflect real work you’d encounter in this role. We’re mindful of candidates’ time and focus on clarity, decision-making, and fit rather than polish.
